FAQ
Questions we're asked.
The questions we hear most before a first visit. For anything else, call +82-2-6487-9950.
Q · 01Where is Kim Sukseong Hongdae located?
We are at 1F, 32 Hongik-ro 3-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul. It is about an 8-minute walk from Hongik Univ. Station (Line 2 / AREX / Gyeongui-Jungang), and roughly 10 minutes from Sangsu Station (Line 6) or Hapjeong Station (Lines 2 & 6). Most people walking over from the main Hongdae strip find it easily.
Q · 02How do I make a reservation?
You can book online through the CatchTable app or Naver Booking, or call +82-2-6487-9950. Friday and Saturday evenings and late-night hours can get busy, so a reservation is recommended.
Q · 03What are the opening hours?
We are open every day from 12:00 noon until 2:00 AM the next morning, seven days a week. Because we run straight from lunch through to the early hours, a lot of guests come for late dinners or a second round after a show.
Q · 04What is cross-aging?
It means applying dry aging and wet aging together. Dry aging removes moisture in open air and concentrates the aroma; wet aging tenderizes the texture in vacuum. We alternate between the two and age our pork belly and premium pork neck for 480 hours — 20 days. The gaminess disappears and what is left is clean, nutty pork flavor.
Q · 05Are there foreign-language menus?
Yes — printed menus are available in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese. Each menu has photos and short descriptions of the cuts, so ordering is straightforward even if this is your first Korean BBQ.
Q · 06What do you recommend ordering?
For a first visit, order the aged pork belly (160g, ₩17,000) and the premium pork neck (160g, ₩17,000) together — same 480-hour aging, completely different textures. For a group, the Premium Kim Sukseong Special (₩188,000) brings rib eye cap, Hanwoo chuck, premium pork neck and pork belly together with stew, marinated crab, corn cheese and minari, so you can compare everything in one sitting. Finish with the spicy marinated crab rice (₩9,000) or DIY fried rice (₩4,000).
Q · 07Do I have to grill the meat myself?
No — our staff grill it for you. With thick-cut aged meat the timing makes all the difference, so we would rather handle it. It is the single most repeated comment in our Google reviews.
Q · 08Is this a good Hongdae restaurant for foreign visitors?
Yes. We keep menus in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese, and our staff do the grilling, so a first Korean BBQ is easy here. It is an 8-minute walk from Hongik Univ. Station and we serve until 2 AM, so a late arrival is fine.
